Sorry folks. I hate to break it to you, but you are going to have to add another TV show to your weekly mix. That’s right, the latest must-see TV is FOX’s TV reimagining of the classic horror film, The Exorcist. Despite what perceptions you may have of the franchise or of network TV in general, The Exorcist is a fresh take on the TV horror genre that is actually incredibly unsettling and creepy.
Led by an all-star cast, the show follows not just one demonic possession, but rather incorporates several stories and several flawed priests in their quest to exorcise demons. Each character is well-written and even better acted, and the story flows through each episode with suspense. The shocking jump scenes and disturbing demonic portrayals add depth to the show’s creep-factor and prove that this show is, honestly, a black sheep in the prime time network market. Even the artistically beautiful opening title sequence is reminiscent of the types of shows one might find on cable and HBO.
Without giving much away for virgin viewers, this is a show you definitely don’t want to miss. Set up your DVR’s and enjoy the best new horror show in TV. The Exorcist airs Fridays on FOX at 9:00PM.
