STAR WARS VIII SHOWS US ITS TITLE

Starwars.com has revealed the title of the next Star Wars movie in the Skywalker Saga and it’s “The Last Jedi.” This is Star Wars news, folks. We never bury the lead when it comes to our favorite space opera.

The film – which is slated for a December 15, 2017, release –  is written and directed by Rian Johnson (Looper) and stars Daisy Ridley, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Adam Driver. It picks up where “The Force Awakens” left off, with Ridley (Rey) presenting herself to Hamill (Luke) for training in the ways of the force.

“The Last Jedi” was the title of a 2013 expanded universe (EU) novel by Michael Reaves and Maya Kaathryn Bohnhoff, set on Coruscant, several years after Order 66 and the events which followed at the Jedi Temple. “The Last Jedi” was also the title of issue 49 of the Marvel comics “Star Wars” comic book, published in 1981.

Who is the last Jedi? Stay tuned!

  1. It would be really cool if it were somehow a nod to the EU story or if they at least mention Order 66. I’m guessing it’s referring to either Luke (by himself), or both Rey and Luke (the plural of Jedi being Jedi), but I’d like to hope that there may be a few other Jedi in hiding who we haven’t met yet. Either way, December can’t get here fast enough. And where’s my GD trailer!?

  2. I am feeling that the last Jedi is singular here… but it refers to Luke. Not Rey. Luke tried to start a new Jedi order and failed with Kylo (his own family), so he is going to change it up and instead of going through the same process he is going to bring us a whole new order with a Jedi foundation.

Either way I am with Jeff — shut up and take my money!

    1. I’m curious: do you believe that Rey isn’t Jedi material? I’m right there with you on the Jedi foundation thing, I’m just hoping Ezra and Kanen don’t “die” before hand. Yeah, yeah, Kanen would be pretty old, but so was Yoda….

  3. I feel that Rey is def Jedi material, almost too powerful though and Kylo’s power is immense too… so I think Luke will lead from the failures of past Jedi order, and adapt it for Rey and others like her. The force and the world are always evolving. We can’t hold onto old world ideals forever is what I am thinking I guess. Who did that just get bigger then the Star Wars conversation? #deepAF hahaha
